After the worlds end.

The ruins of civilisation lie everywhere as testament to what existed before the Cataclysm. Stories tell that in ancient times, the Gods gave their blessings to their chosen people. The tales vary, but one thing they agree on is that a mortal had the hubris to attempt to rival their power. In response, the Gods united to call down the Cataclysm upon the world destroying the ancient nations of the shattered lands.

Since then, those few scraps of civilisation have struggled to survive amongst the ruins. Over three centuries since the Cataclysm, groups have come together to start rebuilding in earnest. At the same time, the Gods have started to once again answer the prayers of the devoted. As these new nations grow in strength, it is inevitable that they will start to compete with each other to rule over the world of the Dragon Gods!

Leaders of the New World.

In this game, the players are significant members of a nation: War Leaders, Diplomats, Librarians, Skilled Artisans or something else of note. Blessed with wonderous magical powers, the insight of an oracle, the strength of a legendary warrior or the cunning of an elite spy, the player characters are looked to by their nations for leadership as the nations emerge from the destruction of the Cataclysm. The rise of these new nations, each one sponsored by one of the Dragon Gods, will not be without great challenge - there are still dangerous monsters, hoards of blood thirsty enemies and hidden secrets that may hide more danger that all other sources.

The Nations out of the Ashes.

Amongst the ruins of civilization after the Cataclysm small groups huddled together for mutual protection against the dangers in a post-Cataclysm world. Some of these groups grew over the years and started to build some of the trappings of civilisation. There are now twelve groups that qualify as nations and each one has been selected by one of the Dragon Gods to sponsor them. This gave each of these new nations an edge that others didn't have - the support of many priests given access to divine magic - something new to the post Cataclysm world.

Rumours and inuendo - what a session looks like.

The Hero's of Return of the Dragon Gods will have quests - some of which will be those that they have undertaken for personal reasons, others linked to needs of nations and others requested by the Gods themselves. To achieve these quests, the Hero's will need to hunt down rumours, investigate NPCs, go on adventures and perhaps even take part in battles. Of course each Hero will have contacts and being of an adventurous nature will be drawn to interesting and notable events and information. Each player will receive a set of rumours for each session. The information in these rumours might be traded with other Hero's or perhaps tricked out of them through careful placed words. Alliances maybe struct and the information given in a spirit of community.
To trade in this information the Hero's will come together. Each time this gathering will be hosted by a different nation, sometimes a festival, a tournament, a wedding. These gatherings are also where the Hero's can act on behalf of their nations in addition to their own goals - trading resources, join with other Hero's in Adventures, raiding other nations to take their resources and commanding Battles.
